My name is Jana Ciompová, and I am a Product Design student at Tomas Bata University in Zlín. My journey into the world of design began in my childhood, driven by a natural curiosity to improve the everyday objects around me. This passion led me to graduate from the Secondary School of Arts in Ostrava, where I first mastered the balance between aesthetics and technical functionality. During my gap year, I took the opportunity to gain hands-on experience directly in the industry, which allowed me to refine my technical skills—from 3D modeling to analytical thinking—while always keeping the end-user’s perspective at the heart of my work.
I come from Český Těšín, a unique border town where Czech, Polish, and Slovak cultures intertwine. Growing up in such a diverse environment has deeply influenced my creative mindset, and today I continue to fuel this inspiration through traveling. Exploring new cultures and meeting people from all walks of life is my primary source of fresh and innovative ideas. My ultimate goal is to create designs that are not only visually striking but also functional, innovative, and capable of meaningful communication.
This desk is designed for pupils from 1st to 5th grade of alternative elementary schools.
The main feature of the desk is a functional board situated at the front. It serves for attaching a magnetic whiteboard, which encourages communication between the child and the teacher, or for mounting compartments for school supplies and small personal belongings.
The shape of the desk also allows for various configurations to support collaborative work and group projects.
LINJE is a sustainable, modular accessory system designed for the dynamic lifestyle of renters and eco-conscious households, crafted from recycled plastic with a timeless minimalist aesthetic. The heart of the system is a versatile, adhesive-mounted wall rail that requires no drilling and can be easily detached and reapplied in a new home, functioning either as a standalone hook for towels or as a stable base for magnetic modules. The collection includes a variety of specialized components: a small soap dish with drainage grooves, a large shelf with raised edges for heavier items like shampoo bottles or a hairdryer, a soap dispenser with a large top-surface button and a transparent fill-level window, and a universal organizer cup with drainage holes to keep everything from toothbrushes to electric shavers clean and dry. By lifting these essentials „into the air,“ LINJE radically simplifies bathroom cleaning and saves time while staying kind to the planet.
This project’s innovative approach and commitment to ecological responsibility earned it first place in the Sustainable Design Competition organized by SIKO, winning the top prize in the Bathroom Accessories category
With its ethereal and airy design, the KUKKA lamp seamlessly fits into various types of interiors.
Thanks to its unconventional shape, it can also serve as a striking centerpiece in any intimately lit space.
Beyond product design, I am passionate about small-scale architecture and any creative projects that come my way during my studies. I am always looking for new ways to bring innovation into my designs, aiming to create exceptional products that truly stand out.
